...

Introduction
...
At the outset, allow me to express my sincere appreciation and gratitude to the administrastion (OIC and Assistant to the OIC), acknowledged during the faculty meeting on May 25, for my designation as REGISTRAR of the UTS. Whoever nominated me deserves my utmost thanks. Doing my best to execute my responsibility will be the best response I can give, with the support of all concerned co-workers.
...
This is my initial official report as Registrar of UTS. I will be very brief.

UPDATE FROM THE REGISTRAR’S OFFICE
UTS Faculty Meeting: July 12, 2004

...
Observations on Endorsements:
...
a. A male M.Div. student (UMC) who comes from the Baguio
Episcopal Area was endorsed by a conference from in Manila Area.
...
b. Some students have been endorsed not by a bishop or a
district superintendent or a conference minister, but by a pastor of a local
congregation or a church council or board.
...
c. What shall we do with students who have not submitted any
endorsement?
...
D. On Grades
...
Note: We are now in the process of looking into the records of the Seniors/
Graduating students, and we will proceed to examine the records of all the lower
years.
...
E. Transcript of Records
...
We have started looking into the Transcript of Records of all students, particularly the Master of Divinity students. I need your guidance as regards those who have not submitted their TOR and those who are enrolled in the M.Div. Program who are not college graduates. [Note: Exceptions are those who are B.Th. graduates who were allowed to go to the M.Div. program. But what about those who finished B.Th. from other schools?]
...
F. Interns/Internship
...
We have started to maintain a list of all students who have gone on internship, particularly those who have enrolled. We need your guidance on those who have gone supposedly on "internship" but have not enrolled. We also need your guidance in dealing with the records of those who have gone on internship but have not been given grades. We also need a list of students who are exempted from internship (and the reason for such, like pastors who have served so many years in the pastorate). What about the "lay students"? How do we treat exemption or otherwise for these students?
...
G. Field Education: Summer Exposure and/or B.T.R.
...
Our office needs to record students who have gone for summer exposure or B.T.R. together with their respective grades, if any. Ultimately, these data will be needed in the recommendation for graduation come March 2005, and even awards to be granted. If there are exemptions, we need the necessary notations for each student.
...
H. Mentoring Groups
...
As mandated by the UTS Faculty, I prepared the list composed of nineteen (19) mentoring groups --- one group for each of the faculty member, full-time and part-time, with a membership of eight (8) to ten (10) students. I have not included some of the part-time faculty members because of their physical presence in the campus. I received feedbacks that some faculty members do not want a student or two in their group, and some students, too, do not like their mentors. Some came to me asking for a change. [Note: Groupings attached.]
...
Conclusion
...
We hope it will not be asking too much if we remind all concerned professors that students deserve to know and get their grades after every semester of classroom struggles. Thank you.

UPDATE FROM THE REGISTRAR’S OFFICE
UTS Regular Faculty Meeting: August 9, 2004
...

Introduction
...
I will be very brief in my report. It will be confined to our concerns in the office.
...
Students’ Grades
...
We have started evaluating the students’ records of grades starting from the seniors to the lower years. We are not yet through with this but we are moving, informing professors of their students’ status in their respective subjects, copy furnished the acting academic dean/academic affairs committee. We are now preparing individual student’s record of grades starting from the semester they entered the academic program to the current semester which will be our basis of evaluation during enrolment time.
...
Endorsements
...
The registrar’s office compiled endorsements received from conferences and/or church authorities. There are students who have not submitted any endorsement. We have tried our best to inform the students about this and many have responded positively. We are still waiting for others to comply. In this regard, we need guidance as to how we will deal with this concern this coming second semester enrolment.
...
Transcript of Records
...
Transcript of records received are now examined for purposes of evaluation towards their official enrolment and/or application for graduation this school year. Our office found out that some senior students in all degree programs, and even students in the lower levels, have not submitted their official TOR’s. We have sent official communication to students who have not complied with this requirement. We need guidance as to how we will deal with this concern this coming semester, particularly on enrolment.
...
Interns/Internship
...
Enrollment of interns is not clear to some students who have not enrolled as interns this school year. It is our assumption that students who have not enrolled for internship are not enrolled this semester or even next semester, unless there were previous arrangements. Students should know and should have enrolled for this purpose for our records and evaluation. We need also clear policies on this.
...
Conversation with IAAS Officers
...
Last July 15, 2004, I had the opportunity to meet with two AIIAS (Adventist International Institute of Advanced Studies) officers. It was initiated and arranged by Dr. Paoring L. Ragui (from India), the Vice-President for Student Services and Public Relations. He came with Mrs. Maria T. Cairees (from Argentina), AIIAS Registrar. We met at 8:00 a.m. in our Faculty Lounge. Among others we shared notes on student affairs and some rules and regulations about foreign students enrolled with our institutions. AIIAS is CHED recognized and they informed us about how the Philippine government is "looking into" academic activities and other related items. The meeting was more on knowing each other’s activities related to our respective institutions, and some brainstorming, too, on school activities.
